Paris-born soul singer and songwriter Tiwayo, nicknamed "The Young Old" for his timeless, lived-in voice, announces the release of a limited edition 45 vinyl featuring two standout tracks from his forthcoming album Outsider — produced by Grammy Award winner Adrian Quesada of the Black Pumas.
Out February 20, the 7-inch single pairs the up-tempo soul stomper 'Up For Soul' on the A-side with the radiant and heartwarming 'Sunshine Lady' on the B-side. Pressed in a limited run of 500 copies worldwide, this is a must have for funk/soul djs and collectors.
"I wanted the album to have an uptempo track that really moved,"" says Tiwayo about 'Up For Soul.' "One afternoon I was listening to Sly Stone and Johnny Guitar Watson, and by the end of the day, this song was born. It's a playful take on the ups and downs of being a musician — the hustle, the joy, and the chaos — all wrapped in 70s soul energy." Recorded with Adrian Quesada and featuring a lush string arrangement by Sly5thAve, the track is a testament to Tiwayo's ability to make classic soul sound fresh and alive.
On the flip side, 'Sunshine Lady' shines as a moment of tenderness and hope. "A friend once told me I always write sad songs," Tiwayo laughs. "So I tried to write something bright. The song is about gratitude — the person who picks you up when you're falling apart. It's simple, soulful, and full of light." With smooth rhythm work by Jay Mumford (drums) and Terin "Moswen" Hector (bass), 'Sunshine Lady' glows with the warm, analog spirit of a lost 70s soul classic.
Both tracks preview Tiwayo's highly anticipated third album, Outsider, due April 10, 2026 — a collaboration between Tiwayo and Adrian Quesada that bridges Parisian soul with Austin's raw southern heat.
